The clients enjoyed many summers at the simple cottage originally located on this site. The new house will function as a year-round home. The house is designed in two gabled wings across two floors. The wings are set slightly askew to frame Lake Montauk on the southwest and to maximize views to the southeast. Living spaces and the master suite are all located on the upper floor so the owners can enjoy compact single floor living when they are alone.

The house is stained all one color and appears as a sculpted form on the hill. Rooms inside are finished entirely in 1x6 white oak. White cabinets, counters and walls complement the oak and together serve as a backdrop for the owner’s eclectic mix of furniture and art.
